are placed at equal distances from each other, in aliquot parts, and originally, half of the intercolumnia in the centre: 64 pillars is their maximum number in the Puṣpaka Maṇḍapa (S.S. LXVII. 12). The significance of this number has its base in the number of squares of the Maṇḍūka-Maṇḍala.
