The naturally perforated or ring-stone¹⁷⁶ is the prototype also of the many carved stone discs which have been found in various sites.¹⁷⁷ They have a large, round hole in the centre, as a rule; a ring-stone however having no hole has been found in Mathurā. Its solid centre is filled with the carving of a lotus-Āmalaka shape.¹⁷⁸
