Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Śiva dwell in the Āmalaka tree. The ‘Skanda Purāṇa’, (‘Vaiṣṇava Khaṇḍa’, XII. 9-23) describes the Āmalaka (Āmardaki) tree. It is the first tree grown in the universe. Viṣṇu is seated at its bottom; Brahmā above and Śiva higher still. The sun is in its branches, the gods are in their ramifications and in its leaves, flowers and fruits. Thus the Āmalaka is the support of all gods.
