Prior to the inception of the building, the Seed of the temple,—its causal stage whence the unmanifest becomes manifest—was deposited in the ground (bhūmi), in the womb of the Earth,²⁰⁹ surrounded by all her substances and sheltered by her so that the temple may arise. Now the building is completed, the Seed has germinated, assimilated all the substances and grown into the body of the temple.
