"The architect (sūtradhāra) of this temple of Śiva (Śaṅkarabhavana) was Caṇḍaśiva, the famed son of Virabhadra, omniscient like Viśvakarman in the science of architecture" (śl. 43; cf. pillar inscription of the Maṇḍapa of the Purāṇa Mahādeo Temple; 'Ind. Ant.' XLII. p. 57 f).
