v2.c12.47

In the totality of the Śikhara (Pl. I) these details are discerned as part only of the texture of the monument so that its surface vibrates at every moment of the day and the clear Indian nights with an ever responsive play of light and shade, a chiaroscuro of widest range, on its surface. The structure of the Śikhara however, the logic of its form, is a concert of ascending curves directed in many units each to a point of its own; they are organized and drawn towards the ultimate and only point on the tip of the finial of the Mūlamañjarī.
