v2.c13.s1.30

The Valabhī of group three appears placed on top of a building of group one. These buildings are related to extant temples, such as the Nava-Devī temple in Yageśvar (Almora District), the Vaitāl Deul in Bhuvaneśvar, and the Telikamandir in Gwalior. The ridge may be breadthwise (āyatā) or the Valabhī is placed at a right angle (tiryak) to the façade of the building. The former type of temple is called Bhadra, and the latter, having the entrance on its narrow side, is known as Dvārapāla. The temple Gandhamādana belongs to this group, and also the temple Guhā, which is oblong in shape.
