v2.c13.s1.6

The Sāmānya-Prāsāda is set up on a square of 64 parts. On this Vāstumaṇḍala the several zones of the plan of the Prāsāda are apportioned according to a module which is given by the height of the door. The width of the Garbha is 9/8ths of this, which is also the height of the Kaṭi. The Jagatī (Vasudhā) projects from the Kaṭi by half its height (9/16ths of the height of the door). The Vāstumaṇḍala is thus not divided according to the number of its parts. These give only the frame in which the plan of the Prāsāda is laid out. A considerable margin, it seems, was provided by this apportionment, for it is enjoined that the Jagatī should neither be too narrow nor too wide (verse 9).
