The material for these boots and shoes was ordinarily bovine leather, and even the hide of the sacrificed cattle was not excepted. According to Sāñvatya quoted by Āśvalāyana, the hide of the cattle sacrificed at the *Śūlagava* ceremony, was fit to be converted into shoes and other useful articles.¹⁰⁰
