v1.c9.35
The most favourite ornament for the base is the *kumbha*, or pitcher, and that for the neck is a series of garlands of flowers or pearls, hung from the mouths of lions, and festooned in graceful curves. The ornaments are so variously combined and so fancifully introduced, that it is impssible to make out from the specimens that have come under notice, the principle, if there were any, upon which they were introduced.
