The south-western mound is Dhavalgiri, abbreviated by common people into Dewalgiri or Dhāüli. It is noted for its being the site of the famous Aśoke edicts which are engraved on one of its outlying spurs. Nīlagiri possesses no antiquarian remains of any kind.
