“Śri Śaṃkara said, ‘O lotus-born, hear of my one secret and eternal Liṅga which, be sure, is the same which you together with Viṣṇu saw. In the beautiful wood of of Ekāmra in the Utkala country, in the Bhāratavarṣa, there exists an eternal Liṅga by name Tribhuvaneśvara, which is identical with divine light, and is ever hidden. There I constantly abide with the Vedas and the Tattvas (or principles of creation). O lotus-born Brahmā, know that all the Liṅgas which you and the gods have adored on the earth are but its parts; it is the king of the other eleven Liṅgas which are composed of the divine light. The primeval Liṅga in Ekāmra is the same with Brahmā; it bears all the yellow, white, red and indigo colours. Go to Ekāmra with the gods; carefully worship that king of Liṅgas with rich offerings; and eat my *Naividya* (or eatables offered to me.)’.
