“Śri Śaṃkara answered, ‘Hear ye gods as also thou lotus-born Brhamā, and cut off the manacles of doubt by my words. That Liṅga is neither god Rudra nor Mādhava; it is identical with the excellent *Arddha Mātra*. True, the offerings made to a Liṅga are not to be eaten, but the Bhuvaneśvara is not a Liṅga. Do you, my son, together with the Suras and Asuras eat the offerings made to it.’ So saying Śambhu vanished from the presence of the gods.
