v2.c17.s1.89

18 feet. The porch is 26′ on the outside, and 15′ 7″ x 12′ in the inside (Plate III, Vol. I). The interior of the latter has two pilasters on each side for the support of the roof, and the ceiling is an elaborate and most beautiful piece of work (plate XXXVIII). The peculiarity occurs also in the Brahmeśvara porch, which has a carved ceiling, but that is not nearly so rich. All the other ceilings of Bhuvanéśvara are plain, and show, in most instances, the iron beams on which they are supported.
