v1.c12.22

Bhāskararāya in his commentary on the Lalitāsahasranāma, explains in his own way the symbolic meaning underlying the pāśa, the aṅkuśa and other weapons and emblems which are usually carried by the goddess Śakti, who herself symbolises Nature or *prakṛiti* as they would say in Sanskrit. He of course quotes authorities in favour of the explanation he gives; and even here what we are led to see is that these weapons and emblems symbolise the powers of Nature and also of this goddess as the Supreme Mistress of Nature.
