v1.c7.38
Other objects. Many other minor objects, such as inscribed stones and even ordinary bricks, etc., are also made into objects of worship occasionally. The conch shell is used to serve more than one purpose in the conduct of worship. But that variety of it which has its spirals running dextrally clockwise, when viewed as springing up from within is specially valued and even worshipped. Indeed, through the processes of religious sanctification and deification, any suitable object, small or large, may be made into an object of worship. In all these cases it is not the object, as such, which is worshipped in reality: the object, whatever it may be, is understood to represent the deity intended to be worshipped.
