v4.c26.70
It might be noticed that in all these aspects the descriptions are such as to suit the nature of the aspect; for example Subrahmaṇya, the son of Agni, is said to have two faces, the same number as possessed by Agni; he carries an ājya-pātra sruva and other objects necessary for making fire-offerings. Similarly, in the case of the Gāṅgēya-Subrahmaṇya, or Subrahmaṇya the son of Gaṅgā, he is required, like Gaṅgā, to be standing upon a makara, carry a pūrṇakumbha and adorned with nilōtpala or water-lilies, objects characteristic of rivers.
