Aṇḍaka is a symbolism or sketch of painting. It has principally three varieties in general, Mukhāṇḍaka, Vṛttāṇḍaka and Alasāṇḍaka. All these are applicable in various paintings of various individuals, men, women, children, and gods, demi-gods and other celetial beings and even birds and animals not excluded. A detailed notice of all these has been taken in the study (Vol. II).
