But this classification too needs some modification. There is vast difference and divergance between the Paurānic images and the Tāntric images, both in Hinduism and Buddhism alike. Hence unless it is modified like the following, it may not be a systematic and scientific classification :—
1. Brahmanical Images (i) Paurāṇic (ii) Tāntric.
2. Buddhist Images. (*i*) Paurāṇic (*ii*) Tāntric,
3. Jain Images.
