To the right of the *Yakshiṇī* in the background, the beautiful clusters of *aśoka* (*Saraca indica*) leaves and flowers in various tints show the artist's fondness for the study of Nature. The pale brown of the decayed leaves with the light green of the young shoots and splashes of white flowers in different stages of bloom delineate admirably the variety of colour which this tree offers in spring.
