v2.c8.s9.2

The subject is painted in several scenes on the wall of the left corridor, above and along the sides of the first and second cell-doors. The two scenes, the Interpretations of Mahā-Māyā’s dream by the Brāhmans, and the Birth of the Buddha in the Lumbinī Gardens, which are, comparatively speaking, better preserved, have been reproduced in colour. From the former scene the figure of the princess (Mahā-Māyā?) is reproduced on a larger scale also as a separate colour plate. The remaining episodes of the story are reproduced in monochrome.
