The architecture of Cave XVII, although in age a quarter of a century later than Cave XVI,¹ maintains the magnificence of the style of the latter. However, as the majority of the paintings of Cave XVII form the subject of the next Part (IV), it will be appropriate to discuss the merits of its architectural detail also in that Part.²
