The pillars of the front gallery of this cave are identical in form with the pillars of the veranda of the vihāra at the right end of the caves at Bhaja which bears an inscription of the first century B.C. There is also considerable resemblance between the ornaments and the dress of the Nāga figures of Cave IX and the figures of rājās shown in the sculptures of the vihāra at Bhaja.
