Mr. Allan observes that if we assume that the Chandra-Gupta-Kumāradevī coins were issued by Chandragupta I, it would be difficult to explain the relatively slavish imitation of the Śāka or the Later Kuṣāṇa type² disclosed by the Standard type of Samudragupta.
