But this is not all. The extreme antiquity of coinage is proved also from another source. The "punch-marked coins" which are the earliest of the coins hereupto discovered in India point precisely to the same conclusion. But this matter had better be reserved for the next lecture where I am treating of the Kārshāpaṇas.
