**§ 32. Satraps of Mathurā.** — As Śaka satraps must probably also be classed the Satraps of Mathurā (or Northern Kṣatrapas), probably of the second half of the 1st cent. B.C., on whose history so much light has been thrown by the inscriptions on the Mathurā Lion Capital (Bhagvānlāl Indraji, ed. BÜHLER, JRAS. 1894, p. 525), and other inscriptions from the same neighbourhood (BÜHLER, EI. II, p. 195).
