§ 97. Maukharis of W. Magadha. — These are known from inscrr. as the contemporaries and rivals of the Later Guptas of E. Magadha. Silver coins imitated from the central Gupta coinage, and bearing the names of two members of this dynasty are known — *Īśānavarman* (**Plate IV, 13**; a contemporary of Kumāragupta III of Magadha) dated 54, and 55 (SMITH, JBA. 1894, p. 193; C.CMI. Pl. II, 12; SMITH, JRAS. 1889, p. 136); and his son *Śarvavarman*, dated 58 (SMITH, JBA. 1894, p. 193). [also 234, 23X.
