¹ See the edition in Hudson's “Geographi Græci Minores” vol. i. p. 33, where the passage is translated: “Literis enim memoriaeque proditum est deam olim singulis mensibus ibi lavari fuisse solitam”. The latest and more critical editor (C. Müller) has on the other hand: “Dea aliquando ibi commorata et lavata esse perhibetur”. (‘Geographi Græci Minores.’ p. 300 of vol. i. of Didot's Edition). It is therefore uncertain.
