Nose ornaments are very common, and are usually blue faience or a blue vitreous paste with a projecting, headed stud to hold them in position in the bored wing of the nostril. As a rule, these nose-plugs are ornamented with a device derived from the intersecting circle design (Pl. O, 4), and they were probably valued also as amulets. Ornaments of a very similar shape are much worn in many parts of India to-day.
