The epithet *kaṭu(m)-* was translated as *ugra-* (Skt.) in the name Ukkira Peruvaluti, the Pāṇṭiya king in whose court *Akanāṉūṟu* was compiled. *Cūṭā.* (8:60) lists *ukkiram* (< *ugra*) as synonym of *kaṭumai*.
