**b. ṇanti** (N.) < *ṇaṃdi* (AMg.) < *nandin* (Skt.), a suffix generally added to the names of Jaina monks. Cf. **cantirananti** (**116.4**). The word-initial *ṇ*-, not permitted by LT orthography, is due to Pkt. influence. Cf. **ṇākaṉ** (**72.1**).
