FIG., 9. Clay figurines of women, Kulli Culture reconstruct with some accuracy from the rather crude clay modelling the appearance of a young woman of Kulli in her finery. Her hair was dressed to a high pile of curls in front, and held back by a fillet above the forehead, and the greater part was looped into a thick, heavy tress which rested on the nape of the neck. This was the standard style, but two figurines show the hair brought down in two long braids or plaits on to the shoulders in front. Over the ears were worn conical ornaments (such ornaments have been found in the Harappā cities), and round the neck a complex arrangement of beads. In the more elaborate, this begins with a ‘choker’ of large beads beneath the chin, and is followed by three rows of necklets of smaller beads, the lowest having a series of oval pendants hanging from it which seem likely to be cowrie shells. Below these again hang long strings of beads reaching to the waist, each with a central pendant.
