We must now turn to North Baluchistan, and particularly to the valley of the Zhob River, which runs north-eastwards from the mountains behind Quetta and the Bolan Pass. Here and in the Pishin-Lora region north-west of the Bolan Pass are a number of tells which have yielded evidence of prehistoric occupation. The sites are not as numerous as those of Sind or South Baluchistan, but they nevertheless show clear evidence of a group of cultures which, although allied to those we have been describing in general terms, yet have distinctive points of difference which justify us in classing them as a separate group, connected with the Red ware Cultures of Persia rather than the buff wares characteristic of the South Baluchistan sites. It is very probable that further exploration would enlarge the geographical boundaries of these *Zhob Cultures*, as we can call them: there is certainly an extension southwards to the head of the Nal River, well to the south of the Bolan Pass.
