Outside the defensive walls of the settlement on Tharro Hill in Sind Majumdar excavated some remarkable stone-built chambers in small oval cairns, which, although they contained no trace of a skeleton, seem explicable only as graves originally containing inhumation burials now rotted away. The chambers were built of dry walling and were rectangular, averaging about 10 by 3 feet and with walls standing up to 2 feet from the floor. They were enclosed in cairns about 12 by 20 feet overall, and contained pottery which included ‘offering-stands’ not unlike the Harappā type, of plain red ware.
