The beads point in the same direction. One ornamented stone bead from Lohumjo-daro is paralleled at Hissar IIIc and Anau III, and the long, barrel-shaped faience beads from Chanhu-daro II, roughly ornamented to imitate segmented forms, recall similar segmented barrel-beads in Jemdet Nasr and Early Dynastic contexts in Sumer. The very large segmented beads from the same site are less easy to parallel, though in Egypt at least such clumsy forms come very late in the bead sequence. Again, we may infer the introduction of new types from the west, from the fringes of the kingdom of Sumer and Akkad.
