Before proceeding to discuss this pottery, however, it will be convenient to summarize the very scanty knowledge available of the human types represented. No adequate report has yet appeared, but the dominant skull-form in the earlier phase seems to have been the proto-Australoid type, and there is at least one such skull among the second phase burials. But in these burials there can be traced a 'small, low-headed race, such as is seen among the present aboriginal population of India', and probably (though not certainly) from the second phase of the cemetery are two skulls considered by Friederichs and Muller to be Armenoid. On the whole, however, there seems little to suggest an intrusive ethnic type which could plausibly be connected with migration from the west.
