For a general account of archaeological work in India, see *Revealing India's Past* (ed. J. Cumming, 1939); earlier work on the Palaeolithic period is commented on by Krishnaswami in *Ancient India*, no. 3 (1947), 13. *John Brunton's Book* was edited by Professor J. H. Clapham and published in 1939. In addition to the special reports on excavations referred to later in this book, the Archaeological Survey of India has published a long series of *Memoirs* and *Annual Reports*. The latter series is now in abeyance, and a publication, *Ancient India*, was started in 1946, four parts of which have appeared. Since the formation of the Dominions of India and of Pakistan there has been no announcement on future archaeological publications.
