230. Multiplication Table for Jupiter's Samvatsara.—According to the Sûrya Siddhânta, Jupiter makes 364,220 revolutions (without bîja or correction) and 364,212 revolutions (with bîja or correction) in a yuga of 4,320,000 years. This means that the mean period of revolution of Jupiter is, with bîja, 4332·41581277 days, and without bîja, 4332·32065235 days. Each of these periods is nearly 12 years and a Jovian month or 1/12 of the period of Jupiter's revolution is very nearly equal to a solar year. The Jovian month is therefore called in ordinary language a Jovian year and there are 1·0117 Jovian years in a solar year. Also a mean solar day = ·00277 of a Jovian year.
