The first ten of these sites contain the text of minor rock edict I only, which describes Aśoka's increased religious zeal and exhorts his subjects to pursue similar goals. Numbers 11–17 also include minor rock edict II (in varying forms), recommending respectful behavior toward parents, elders, and teachers. Several of the minor rock edicts are recent discoveries, the newest among them being Ahraurā (1961), New Delhi (1966), Pāṅguṛāriā (1976), and Niṭṭūr and Uḍegoḷam (1977).
