Though the definition of the "Fertile Crescent" has now been modified by BRAIDWOOD⁵ in the light of subsequent research in the Kurdish highlands of Iraq and Iran, still the main hypothesis viz. "that India is situated on the periphery of the cultural spread arising in Western Asia" stands. (*See Fig. 1*).
