Ball's article 'A Geologist's Contribution to the History of Ancient India', published in the *Indian Antiquary* for 1884 (pp. 228 ff.) affords most valuable information. He believes that the Egyptians traded with India, though at present there is not much proof of this, Arabia certainly did, and so did the Phoenicians.
