A.D. 783. The Rāshṭrakūṭa king, or prince, Dhruva is represented in the Rādhanpūr plates to have captured and imprisoned the W. Ganga chief Śivamāra II alias Śaigoṭṭa, to have released him and again captured him. (This chief was finally reinstated by the Rāshṭrakūṭa king Gōvinda III.) Dhruva is said also to have gone to the Tungabhadra river and fought against the Pallavas (E. I. vi, 239). [The Ganga chiefs now owned the Rāshṭrakūṭas as their overlords.]
