Ninth century A.D. About this time the Vaiḍumba chief Irigayya, or Erega, was at war. A vīrakal at Ālēṭipalli, in Chittoor District, commemorates the death of a soldier in a battle when he was ‘supporting the throne of Erega,’ or Irigayya. Another vīrakal in the same neighbourhood, in honour of a man who lost his life in a cattle-raid, mentions the Vaiḍumba Rāja, Manuja-Triṇētra, probably the same as Gaṇḍa-Triṇētra. (V. R. i.
