A.D. 915. Record of the ninth year of Parāntaka Chōla I, who is recognized as supreme in the former Ganga territory of North Arcot. The Chōla king had, in or before this year, conferred the conquered Bāṇa country on the Ganga chief Prithivīpati II, giving him the title ‘Śembiyan-Māvalivāṇar-aiyan.’ In this record this Prithivīpati II is called ‘Lord of the Bāṇas;’ also he is said to have won a battle at Vallāḷa, but against whom is not stated.
