In the Bengal Asiatic Society’s plate⁴ of Gayāḍatuṅga, we have: ‘Toro-grāma is made a *kara-śāsana* at nine *palas* of silver’, while the Talcher plate⁵ of the same king speaks of the fixation of *tṛṇodaka* for the gift land at four *palas* of silver without using the word *kara* or *kara-śāsana* in the context.
