¹ See Bāṇa’s *Kādambarī*, N. S. Press, p. 225, for the issue of grants by kings while on their marches. The Banaras copper-plate grant of Kalacuri Karna (Bhandarkar’s List, No. 1223) was issued when he was on a pilgrimage at Prayāga in connection with his father’s annual *Śrāddha* ceremony.
