Just as the Tripurā and Magī eras are several years ahead of the Bengali era, the Malla era, which was prevalent in the State of the Malla rulers of Bishnupur in the Bankura District of West Bengal, is 101 years behind the Bengali era. There is no doubt that it is an adaptation of the Bengali era. The difference therefore may be attributed to the whims of one of the Malla rulers of Bishnupur.
