² Note that the *Bhāvabodhini* of the 17th century author Madhusūdana says, *Mālava-rājasy=Ojjayinī-rājadhānikasya kavi-jana-mūrdhanyasya Ratnāvaly-ākhyanāṭikā-kartur=mahārāja-śrī-Harṣasya* (*Ind. Ant.*, Vol. II, pp. 127-28; Tripathi, op. cit., p. 184). That the confusion is much earlier than the seventeenth century is proved by Kalhaṇa’s *Rājatarangiṇī* composed about the middle of the twelfth century. Cf. III, verses 125, 128; also ibid., II. 7.
