The Daspalla plates of Śatrubhañja give the following details of the date : year 198 [of the Bhauma-Kara era], Viṣuva-saṅkrānti, Sunday, Pañcamī, Mṛgaśirā-nakṣatra. The combination is rather rare and would suit very few dates in a century. Considering the period in question, the date would suit only the 23rd March 1029 A.D. The Bhauma-Kara era thus appears to have started from 831 A.D.
