⁵ Cf. *Ep. Ind.*, Vol. XXXI, pp. 4, 9, 50, 72, 92, 107, 132, 135, 137, 221, 265, 280, 287, 293-94, 300, 315. A few rulers called themselves *vācapād-ānudhyāta* in which the word *vāva* is used instead of the usual *bappa* meaning father (*Ep. Ind.*, Vol. XXX, p. 168). *Vāva* has been explained as an uncle or a relation of one’s father’s generation. Instead of *pād-ānudhyāta* sometimes we have *pāda-bhakta*, *pādapadm-opajīvin*, *pādapaṅkaja-bhramara*, etc.
